At the heart of the RIGEL project is the ability to produce and consume hydrogen as a Clean energy alternative. Firstly to provide a distributed Micro off-grid option. Secondly being able to adapt and provide for disruptive business models. Thirdly to solve the problems which have prevented this technology from going mainstream.

About the Rigel Fuel Cell

Whats new

Fuel Cells have been around for many years. The Rigel Fuel Cell is unique as it eliminates the issues by combining of  a PCFC and SOFC and having a central membrane which removed the traditional issues of Water forming at either the Anode or Cathode. It is also unique in the aspect that it is a reversible cell. It can produce Hydrogen in one direction and if reversed creates electricity. The RIGEL reversible cell is derived from a novel dual membrane high-temperature FC, designed, proved and defensed by 3 patents of key consortium members. It evolves the original idea with current state of the art in a new 3D-architecture realized by 3D-inkjet processing - technology which will open horizon for  advanced  SOFC concepts. RIGEL enables a supply chain model where only material needs to be transported for manufacturing and providing a renewable energy source (RES) as a stand-alone single system which could also offer grid balancing services.
